#ReadWomenMonth Tag!

Confession: I have a weakness for stupid question memes, and Stasia from StasiaLikesCakes has already learned to exploit this. She's hosting Read Women Month over at her blog for the month of June, so head over there if you'd like to learn more/participate!

And now, the #ReadWomenMonth question tag:

Your favourite book written by a woman

Disincluding all series novels, Beauty Queens by Libba Bray.

The last book you read that was written by a woman

Tease by Amanda Marciel

Your favourite non-fiction book written by a woman

Jeneration X by Jen Lancaster

Your favourite series written by a woman

Harry Potter. Duh.

Three favourite female authors

Shannon Hale, Maureen Johnson, and Richelle Mead. (and Stephanie Perkins! and Ally Carter!)

A book you love, written by a female author, that you don't think enough people have heard of

Alanna: The First Adventure by Tamora Pierce

One woman writer you've been meaning to read but haven't yet

Oh my God, I literally cannot think of any. Uh, maybe Holly Black?

Your favourite female-written book that people often look down on

Twilight? Yeah, Twilight.

Your favourite female character in a book written by a woman

SYDNEY SAGE and also HERMIONE GRANGER

Your favourite female friendship in a book written by a woman

Cammie, Bex, Liz, and Macey in the Gallagher Girls series by Ally Carter

A male-written book you wish had been written by a woman

Does that mean the perspective would also shift from male to female? Because I can think of a lot if that's the case. Examples: The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Looking for Alaska, and the Mysterious Benedict Society series would all be cool if they were from a female POV. (Not that they aren't already cool with their male protags!) Ooh, and also Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children!

I don't know anyone here on Blogger to tag yet, but if you feel like doing this somewhere else, link me to it somehow! I'd love to see everyone's answers.

  1. Yeeaaaaahhh!!! Honestly I feel like Twilight is probably just the most correct answer for that particular question. Nothing else will quite match it. ALSO you totally just reminded how much I need to read Beauty Queens!

    1. Is there a more-maligned female book than Twilight? Fifty Shades, maybe, but /no./ Also GO READ BEAUTY QUEENS AND THEN COME BACK TO ME. MISS MICHIGAN IS NAMED JENNIFER FOR PETE'S SAKE IT'S GREAT.

    1. I've meant to grab Coldtown and keep forgetting to! Also whatever that kids' series she co-wrote is.
